Major Update- New game demo
Hello everyone! I know it's been a while, but I have some major news to share.
First, I've overhauled a ton of the game systems and mechanics. Enemies now have semi-randomized traits which greatly changes up the flow of combat. Tons of new UI features including a working mini-map (press M to toggle), a whole bunch of bug fixes, balance changes, new items, new enemies, many, many new abilities and finally the vast majority of skills actually work as intended. Oh, and sound effects! I've voiced most of them myself, which I thought might sound odd at first but somehow it kind of works well!
Second, I'm changing gears slightly and making a shorter game first. This game is titled Monsters of Mican, and will be a much simpler dungeon diving RPG in which you go through a linear set of dungeon levels. And with this update I've attached the first demo for that game! I hope you give it a try, and please let me know what you think!
The original project was getting out of hand in terms of scope, especially for my budget laptop, so I decided to start using the fun and solid mechanics I had created to make a smaller project first, using what I believe are the best assets from my game- the monsters! If everything goes well I will hopefully use the proceeds from this smaller game to help fund development of the larger game (i.e. getting a new development PC).
So as always, please let me know if you have any thoughts, comments, questions, concerns, and if you try the demo, please let me know if you discover any bugs. Known bugs for this build include the enemy examination widget (hold right click on an enemy) appearing partially off-screen, and save functionality becoming disabled temporarily (if this happens just move to a different level and it should be fixed).
Version 0.2 has ideally fixed those bugs, and improved some UI elements and font, as well as added a brief control tutorial at the start. Please let me know (via comments below or reaching out on other social media) if you encounter any other bugs!
Have fun, and thank you for all of your support!!
Please ignore the donation option next to the download- the demo is of course free.
